Something new, and a little uncomfortable, is coming
A publishing shift for thinkers, not scrollers.
Thank you for being a subscriber to Mindful Sceptic. We hope you are enjoying the content.
Let’s get straight to it. After nine months of gentle introductions, we think it is time to move to some full-on mindful scepticism.
So this newsletter is evolving.
Starting next week, you’ll see a new rhythm and a deeper challenge.
We’re launching a dedicated series of essays called Uncomfortable Intelligence. These are long-form, contrarian investigations into the energy, economics, sustainability, and natural systems we take for granted, even our belief in progress itself.
Opinion and cuteness are great for the socials, but the world we inhabit runs on thermodynamics, feedback loops, and inconvenient truths.
So we are slowing things down to go deeper.
Over the next few days, we’ll show you what to expect and how to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want in your inbox.
For now, just know that the essays are free, intellectually ambitious, and unapologetically contrarian.
The first one drops on Sunday, 17 August.

I am really looking forward to this. It looks like it might be the conversation we really need to have. Too often the issues and the "solutions" have been compartmentalised. Unless we look at the full picture, including all the inconvenient scientific evidence and inconvenient truths about human behaviour, we are just living in la-la land.
That does sound good. I like to get engaged with a topic and too often it seems that reasoned argument gets drowned out by received wisdom. I guess it means taking a it more care before dashing off my instant response.
