I am tired of it. You know, the endless inane political commentary that does little more than propagate the polemics and vitriol that has become the defining gift of neoliberal capitalism. Well, that is after the inequality, exploitation and precarity.
We are all cranky. We know this so you don’t have to keep reporting it, saying it and podcasting about it. Not only that, but we also know we messed up electing Muppets and letting the social contract slip from our grasp. And in our bones, we know that the future is insecure, even for those of us fortunate enough to drive to the office.
And I am angry too, for plenty of reasons, not least that I have no emotional energy left to be angry.
So when I unearthed my short summary of scepticism, posted into the Insight Vault a year ago, I read it and felt a little better. Just a little.
It reminded me why I still have to keep thinking, considering and resolving the issues of today and tomorrow in my own head. Not to fix anything, for part of the problem is we have such little agency, but to keep me from insanity.
And, although it doesn’t set out to pump the dopamine, it did.
I hope you find something similar today.
